Wyoming & Montana Hunting Season Recap 2025 | SNS Outfitter & Guides
It's been another incredible year in the West.
From the high-country wilderness to the wide-open plains, 2025 reminded us why we chase these adventures season after season. The bugles were loud, the prairies were alive, and the SNS crew was right there for every moment — riding, guiding, and celebrating the hunt.
This is the story of our 2025 season… and it's one for the books.
A New Chapter in Wilderness Elk Hunting
We opened the fall deep in the Wyoming backcountry, packing into our wilderness elk camps — hunts that have quickly become the renewed heartbeat of SNS. These are the true horseback pack-ins: long days, big elevation, crisp mountain air, and unforgettable rewards.
This year, every single archery hunter had a shot opportunity — a remarkable 100% success rate on shot opportunities. Rifle season carried that same electric energy with echoing bugles, steady hands, and stories that will be told for years to come.
Wilderness elk hunting is alive and well, and we're proud to be leading the charge. With additional camps coming online, our reach continues to grow. When you're ready to book your own wilderness elk hunt, know that SNS Outfitter has every detail handled from saddle cinch to final pack-out.
Black Bears & Antelope: The Seasons That Bookend Fall
Before the September elk bugles kicked off, we wrapped up our final fall black bear season at Box Y Lodge. It was a meaningful send-off as new caretakers take the reins in that country, and we closed this chapter with excellent trophies and deep gratitude for 25 remarkable years in the Greys River region.
Then came antelope season and there's just nothing like it.
SNS Outfitter remains North America's largest antelope outfitter, and 2025 reaffirmed why.
Wide-open country. Fast stalks. Clean shots. Full freezers. These spot-and-stalk hunts across Wyoming's prairie are a tradition we're proud to continue, because nobody does antelope hunting quite like SNS.
Better yet, the herd is rebounding. After a tough winter two years ago, this year's fawn crop was strong, and we anticipate healthier age classes and more mature bucks in 2026 and 2027.
Combination Hunts: More Than One Tag, More Than One Adventure
As fall progressed, we welcomed hunters who came for more than one experience.
Combination hunts antelope and cow elk, mule deer and elk filled freezers and created memories that will be talked about for a long time.
Mule deer numbers continue to rebuild, so we're running fewer hunts with a stronger focus on quality. Every tag matters, every harvest counts, and we're committed to doing our part to protect the resource.
Cow elk hunts also brought great success this season. Whether accessed on horseback or by 4x4, these hunts are a joy to run high success rates, gorgeous landscapes, and wholesome wild game meat that families are proud to serve around the table. There is something deeply rewarding about knowing exactly where your food came from.
Weather, Wildlife, and the Will to Keep Going
Every hunting season brings challenges, and weather is almost always part of the story.
Rain, snow, sleet, and mud tested our guides, camps, and stock this year, but the SNS spirit never wavered.
Cooks kept the coffee hot. Wranglers kept the horses fed. Guides kept the hunts moving forward.
Every smile, handshake, and muddy pair of boots told the same story: dedication and drive in the face of whatever the season brings.
Gratitude for the Team, the Hunters, and the Journey
None of this would be possible without an exceptional team. SNS Outfitter is built on the shoulders of people who give their all and then some.
To our guides who spend months in the field, our camp cooks who make camp feel like home, our wranglers and jacks who keep everything running smoothly, and to Sy and Ambrosia who hold the entire operation together year-round thank you.
To the families who keep the home fires burning while we're away, your support means more than you know.
And to our hunters, friends, and loyal supporters you are part of the SNS family. Your trust fuels our mission, and your stories become part of our 48-year legacy.
