Summer Adventure Gear Guide
Preparing for your Summer Adventure is easy with the right gear. Weather in Wyoming's mountains can change quickly, so we recommend packing clothing that can be layered throughout the day. Even in the middle of summer, daytime temperatures can reach the upper 70s while mornings and evenings may drop into the 30s.
Packing Your Gear
Please pack your belongings in soft-sided duffel bags no longer than 26 inches. Soft, compact bags are much easier to transport on horseback than hard-sided luggage or oversized bags.
Because your gear will be transported into camp by pack horses, we encourage packing bulky items such as sleeping bags, boots, and fishing rods separately whenever possible. This allows us to load the horses safely and efficiently while making the best use of available space.

On the Trail
While riding to camp, your saddle horse will have saddlebags for the items you'll need during the day, including:
- Two filled water bottles
- Lunch (provided by SNS Outfitter & Guides)
- Rain jacket and rain pants
- One warm layer
- Hat
- Gloves
- Personal medications
- Sunscreen and other small personal items
Please do not wear a backpack while riding. All other gear will be transported by pack horse and will not be accessible until you arrive at camp. Be sure to keep any essentials, such as rain gear and medications, with you during the ride.

Lower Body
- Base layer (optional)

- Sturdy boots (boots with a heel are recommended for horseback riding)
- Comfortable hiking shoes (optional)
- Comfortable camp shoes
- Wool or moisture-wicking socks
Accessories
- Wide-brim hat or ball cap
- Warm beanie
- Gloves (leather riding gloves are optional)
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Two refillable water bottles (we recommend one 32-ounce bottle and one 16-20 ounce bottle)

Fishing
If you plan to fish during your adventure, please bring your own rod, reel, flies, and tackle. To help protect your equipment while traveling on horseback, we recommend transporting your rod in a hard protective case no longer than 36 inches. Shorter pack rods work best for horseback travel.
All anglers are required to have:
- A valid Wyoming Fishing License
- A Wyoming Conservation Stamp (required for most anglers age 14 and older)
Fishing licenses and Conservation Stamps can be purchased online through the Wyoming Game and Fish Department or from license vendors throughout Wyoming before your trip.
We encourage catch-and-release fishing whenever possible and ask all guests to follow Wyoming Game and Fish regulations and all applicable U.S. Forest Service rules during their stay.
Staying Connected
Although you'll be enjoying the beauty and solitude of Wyoming's backcountry, we understand that many guests appreciate the ability to check in with family and friends. SNS Outfitter & Guides carries a portable Starlink system in camp, providing Wi-Fi access when available. While service may occasionally be affected by terrain or weather, you'll have the opportunity to stay connected during your adventure.
