We are thrilled to announce the results of the first week of fall black bear hunting. With the first week complete in western Wyoming, we’re happy to report that we have five bears on the ground thus far. This is no overnight task, as our guides spend a considerable portion of the summer scouting, baiting, identifying good locations for bear baits, and more.

With that in mind, let’s talk about how our guides prepare for you,[...]

Season Prep Tip: Sighting in Your Rifle

All rifles should be sighted-in before every hunt using the ammunition you plan to use. A gun that was sighted-in prior to your last outing could have been knocked out of alignment by a single jolt. That misalignment could mean the difference between a successful hunt and a disappointing experience. Rifles should be topped with quality scopes at a minimum of 3×9 power with a 40mm objective or larger. Remember, we take longer shots out[...]

FAQ: What Should I Tip?

“What is proper etiquette for tipping my guide and support staff (I.e. cooks, camp jack, etc) on my hunt?”

This is a question I get asked quite often this time of year and the answer is simple, yet complex.

Let’s start with your guide. It is customary to tip your guide 10% of the hunt price for a single hunt since you will be working with the same guide for the entire hunt (check the price of the hunt y[...]

The 2019 Hunting Outlook

The 2019 hunting season is a little over a month away and the outlook for SNS Outfitter and Guides season is looking to be a great one. The snowpack this winter was above average and melted off a little slower than normal in many parts of the state, which meant a late spring. Although we were pushing through snow we had a favorable spring bear season. Not only did the delayed spring lead to a great spring bear season, it also led into a v[...]

Memory Made: Wyoming Moose Hunt

Growing up in Wyoming and hunting from the time I was little it is very difficult to narrow down my favorite hunting memory. From the time I was old enough to walk I was old enough to tag along. I was rabbit hunting, prairie dog hunting, and varmint hunting from a very young age. These hunts built the foundation for all successful hunts in the future. Of all of my successful hunts there is one that is easily my favorite. This hunt did not[...]
