Wyoming Wilderness Elk and Deer Combo Hunts
Washakie Wilderness
About Our Wilderness Elk & Deer Combo Hunts
Hunt the rugged wilderness of western Wyoming with SNS Outfitter & Guides on our elk and deer combo hunt. This hunt is based out of our remote camp located in one of the state’s most productive elk and mule deer units. Accessible by UTV in about an hour, this camp offers the same expansive backcountry feel and challenging terrain as a traditional pack-in hunt, without sacrificing comfort or access.
These hunts provide outstanding opportunity for both elk and mule deer during overlapping seasons. Our wilderness elk hunts have maintained a 95% harvest rate over the past several years, and the addition of mule deer creates an efficient and rewarding two-species experience.
Each day begins before dawn as guides prepare the riding stock and hunters gather for hot coffee and a hearty breakfast. Once in the field, your guide will lead you into carefully chosen areas to locate elk or deer, depending on conditions and movement. Spot-and-stalk opportunities are common, and the pursuit often ends with the harvest of a mature bull or a quality mule deer buck. After the shot, our crew handles quartering, skinning, and packing the meat back to camp.
All hunting is conducted on horseback once in camp, providing the best access to remote basins, timber pockets, and high-country terrain where elk and deer thrive.
Because this is a highly sought-after combination hunt, we recommend booking well in advance. Wyoming elk preference points are essential to draw this license, and mule deer tags in this unit also require preference points. We anticipate elk will require five or more points to draw in 2026. If you’re unfamiliar with Wyoming’s point system, we’re happy to walk you through it.

To ensure accuracy and timeliness, we personally submit your hunting license application unless other arrangements have been discussed. The type of license required (special or regular) is determined by your points and the best odds for a successful draw.
Wounded Animal Policy:
Our wound policy is very simple: if you draw blood—whether you and your guide find the animal or not—that is your animal. We will do everything in our power to find and retrieve the animal, but another animal will not be taken.
Grizzly Bears:
Camp is located within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, home to grizzly bears. All employees and guests are required to always carry bear spray, which we will provide. Full training will be conducted upon arrival at camp. To learn more about hunting in grizzly country, click here.
