Thunder Basin National Grasslands Cow Elk

Camp Envy

About Camp Envy

With a strong and growing elk population, this ranch offers an excellent opportunity for hunters looking to experience a true Wyoming elk hunt. Managed by SNS Outfitter & Guides for many years, the area supports healthy herds that provide consistent success for both new and returning hunters.

Cow elk hunts take place in the same beautiful country as our bull elk hunts, featuring a mix of sagebrush hills, pine ridges, and open draws that make for a classic Western setting. These hunts are conducted using 4x4 vehicles with hiking to reach prime areas, offering an exciting and rewarding experience without the need for horses.

Each day begins early with a hearty breakfast before heading into the field with one of our experienced guides. Using proven glassing and stalking techniques, hunters can expect high success rates and an enjoyable, well-paced hunt. After a full day in the field, guests return to camp for a warm meal and a good night’s rest.

Cow elk licenses for this hunt are available at a 100% draw rate and do not require Wyoming Preference Points. This makes it an ideal option for hunters seeking an affordable, high-success elk hunt without a long wait to draw a tag.

Important Hunt Information

Arrival Information:

If you're flying in for your hunt, plan your arrival at Casper Airport the day before your hunt starts, ideally between 12 noon and 2 pm. Your guide will meet you at the airport and transport you to camp.

If you choose to arrive two days before your hunt, arrange airport transportation to the Ramkota Hotel using the hotel shuttle. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel the day before your hunt and transport you to camp. Arriving two days early allows extra time for travel delays, weather issues, or lost luggage.

For those driving, detailed maps and arrival instructions will be mailed around August 15.

What’s Included in Your Hunt:

SNS Outfitter & Guides provides 5 nights of lodging and 4 days of hunting, professional guide service, home-cooked meals prepared by full-time cooks, and transportation during your hunt, whether on horseback or via 4x4 vehicles.

Hunters are responsible for bringing their own personal gear, rifles, ammunition, and gratuities. Please note while we do apply for your hunting license for you, the cost of the licenses are not included in the hunt.

Camp Amenities & Power Availability:

If you use a CPAP machine, this camp is well suited to your needs. Electricity is available in camp, allowing CPAP batteries to be charged as needed. The camp is also equipped with Starlink satellite Wi-Fi for guests who wish to stay connected.

Travel Arrangements:

While we do not make flight or hotel reservations on your behalf, we are happy to provide recommendations. Information about the preferred hotel is included in your pre-hunt packet, which will be mailed to you after booking.

License Application Assistance:

To ensure accuracy and timeliness, we personally submit your hunting license application unless other arrangements have been discussed. The type of license required (special or regular) is determined by your points and the best odds for a successful draw.
