Thunder Basin National Grasslands Mule Deer

Camp Envy

About Camp Envy

Covering more than 30,000 acres of classic Wyoming terrain, this hunt offers an unforgettable mule deer experience in country that SNS Outfitter & Guides has carefully managed for over 30 years. The landscape features a beautiful mix of Ponderosa pine hills, sagebrush draws, and rolling plains that provide ideal habitat for Wyoming’s iconic mule deer.

October is prime time for this hunt, when mature bucks are on the move and activity is high. The area consistently produces quality deer with spreads ranging from 20 to 26 inches, most being classic 4x4 bucks. All hunts are conducted using 4x4 vehicles on a well-maintained network of access roads, allowing hunters to cover plenty of ground and locate mature deer without the use of horses.

Each day begins before sunrise with a hearty breakfast before heading into the field. Hunters glass from vantage points and pursue deer on foot, using careful stalks guided by our experienced and knowledgeable staff. This combination of vehicle access and spot-and-stalk hunting offers an exciting and effective approach, with a high success rate for quality bucks.

After a day in the field, hunters return to a comfortable camp with hearty, home-cooked meals and plenty of time to relax and share stories from the day. Because of this hunt’s strong reputation and consistent success, Wyoming Preference Points are required to draw a mule deer license. Due to high demand, we recommend booking two to three years in advance.

Important Hunt Information

Arrival Information:

If you're flying in for your hunt, plan your arrival at Casper Airport the day before your hunt starts, ideally between 12 noon and 2 pm. Your guide will meet you at the airport and transport you to camp.

If you choose to arrive two days before your hunt, arrange airport transportation to the Ramkota Hotel using the hotel shuttle. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel the day before your hunt and transport you to camp. Arriving two days early allows extra time for travel delays, weather issues, or lost luggage.

For those driving, detailed maps and arrival instructions will be mailed around August 15.

What’s Included in Your Hunt:

SNS Outfitter & Guides provides 6 nights of lodging and 5 days of hunting, professional guide service, home-cooked meals prepared by full-time cooks, and transportation during your hunt, via 4x4 vehicle or UTV.

Hunters are responsible for bringing their own personal gear, rifles, ammunition, and gratuities. Please note while we do apply for your hunting license for you, the cost of the licenses are not included in the hunt.

Camp Amenities & Power Availability:

If you use a CPAP machine, this camp is well suited to your needs. Electricity is available in camp, allowing CPAP batteries to be charged as needed. The camp is also equipped with Starlink satellite Wi-Fi for guests who wish to stay connected.

Travel Arrangements:

While we do not make flight or hotel reservations on your behalf, we are happy to provide recommendations. Information about the preferred hotel is included in your pre-hunt packet, which will be mailed to you after booking.

License Application Assistance:

To ensure accuracy and timeliness, we personally submit your hunting license application unless other arrangements have been discussed. The type of license required (special or regular) is determined by your points and the best odds for a successful draw.
