In Wyoming, non-resident hunters play a vital role in supporting the state’s wildlife and hunting heritage. From helping meet harvest quotas to providing millions in tourism dollars and covering a major portion of the Wyoming Game & Fish Department’s budget, these hunters are essential to conservation and game management in the Cowboy State.
But until recently, sportsmen didn’t have a strong voice in the legislative process. That’s why the Wyoming Hunter Defense Fund (WHDF) was created.
The WHDF is a sportsmen-founded organization that exists to:
Protect public access to hunting in Wyoming
Educate residents and lawmakers about the economic value of hunters
Conserve wildlife habitats through responsible stewardship
Influence policy and legislation that impacts the future of hunting in the state
Whether you're a non-resident hunter planning your dream mule deer hunt, a local who depends on the hunting industry, or an outfitter guiding clients through Wyoming’s rugged terrain—your opportunities are at risk without support and representation.
WHDF works to:
Give sportsmen a seat at the table during legislative discussions
Ensure that wildlife and habitat management stays a top priority
Communicate the importance of hunting to Wyoming’s rural economy and communities
At SNS, we see firsthand how critical hunters are to Wyoming’s future. That’s why this year, we asked each of our clients to consider making a donation to the WHDF.
Your contributions help:
Fund legislative outreach
Support research and data collection
Communicate with the public about how hunting benefits all Wyoming residents
Defend your right to hunt in this incredible state
We encourage every hunter—resident and non-resident—to stay informed about the issues facing Wyoming’s hunting community. The future of our industry depends on education, advocacy, and involvement.
