We’re excited to announce that beginning in 2023, SNS Outfitter & Guides will officially take over operations at the incredible East Fork wilderness elk camp. During the 2022 season, our team will work alongside current operator Taylor Engum, helping with camp setup and teardown, learning the horse trails, and guiding elk hunters in preparation for a seamless transition.
By next fall, we’re confident we’ll have the knowledge, experience, and boots-on-the-ground understanding required to run this backcountry pack-in elk camp successfully.
East Fork has long been known for outstanding archery elk hunting, thanks to the hard work and strong reputation built by previous outfitter Todd Jones, who guided out of this camp for 12 years.
Archery season: Entire month of September
First archery hunt: September 8–12 (Type 9 archery-only license required)
Starting Sept 15: We welcome general elk license hunters
Guide ratio: 1:1 for all archery hunts (same as Taylor’s proven system)
If you're looking for a classic, close-quarters elk rut hunt in true wilderness, this is it.

Our rifle elk season begins October 1st and runs through the end of the month. These are 5-day hunts, with additional pack-in and pack-out days on either end—making it a full 7-day backcountry experience.
Guide ratio: 1 guide per 2 hunters
License: General elk license
Success rate: 95% harvest rate over the last 8 years
Terrain: Expansive, rugged, and full of resident elk
If you're ready for a high-success, horse-supported elk hunt deep in Wyoming’s wilderness, this is your hunt.
This camp, like our Box Y elk hunt, uses the general elk license, making it an excellent option for those who:
Have fewer preference points
Want to apply in the random draw while still building points
With two general elk camps in our lineup, we’re able to fit hunters into our schedule if they draw unexpectedly—flexibility that few outfitters can offer.

Did you know the head of the East Fork drainage is prime Bighorn Sheep country?
We’re located in Wyoming’s famed Area 5, which consistently offers the most Bighorn tags in the state. While drawing the tag is challenging, the rams in this region are well worth the effort.
Sheep rifle season: Starts September 1
Application strategy: Worth putting in for if you dream of hunting Bighorns
East Fork is only accessible by horses and mules, taking you deep into the heart of the Washakie Wilderness. No roads. No traffic. No cell service. Just you, your guide, and the sights and sounds of wild Wyoming.
Cold, frosty mornings
Bugling bulls in the timber
Coffee and bacon in the cook tent at sunrise
Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, it’s the kind of hunt that leaves a mark—and one that keeps you coming back.

We’re incredibly proud to add the East Fork Camp to the SNS lineup and can’t wait to share it with both returning and new hunters. If you're ready for a horseback, backcountry elk hunt with experienced guides and a legendary setting, give us a call.
